Course Overview

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2011 and offers a four-year B.E. programme (eight semesters) in Mechanical Engineering. The programme is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The department currently admits an intake of 120 students.

The department is supported by a team of qualified, competent, and motivated faculty members holding M.E./M.Tech degrees in specialized areas such as Engineering Design, Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, CAD/CAM, and Industrial Engineering. The faculty members bring strong academic expertise combined with effective teaching experience.

The department is continuously upgrading its laboratory facilities to support research and innovation, with a focus on developing the department as a Centre of Excellence in CAD/CAM, Manufacturing Technology, and Thermal Engineering. These facilities support academic learning, research activities, and industry-oriented training.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering promotes technical awareness among students through expert lectures by eminent academicians and industry professionals, industrial visits, in-plant training, placement training, and skill development programmes. Continuous improvement in teaching-learning practices, research initiatives, and professional development activities ensures holistic student development and aims towards achieving excellent placement outcomes.

Qualification for B.E. Mechanical Engineering:

• Passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent examination
• Must have studied Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as core subjects
• Secured the minimum aggregate marks as prescribed by AICTE / State Government / University norms
• Admission through Government Counselling / Management Quota as applicable
