Objectives of an SC/ST Committee

  1. Promoting Inclusivity: To foster an inclusive and equitable environment for SC/ST students, ensuring their equal participation in academic and extracurricular activities.
  2. Preventing Discrimination: To prevent and address any form of discrimination, harassment or bias against SC/ST students, faculty or staff.
  3. Providing Support and Guidance: To offer support, guidance and counselling to SC/ST students, helping them navigate institutional processes and addressing their concerns.
  4. Ensuring Equal Opportunities: To ensure equal opportunities for SC/ST students in admissions, academics and campus life, promoting their overall development.
  5. Monitoring and Reporting: To monitor incidents of discrimination or bias, investigate complaints and report to the authorities for necessary action.
  6. Organizing Awareness Programs: To organize awareness programs, workshops and seminars to promote understanding, empathy and respect for diversity and inclusivity.
  7. Implementing Reservation Policies: To ensure implementation of reservation policies and regulations for SC/ST students, faculty and staff as per government norms and institutional policies.

Functions & Responsibilities of SC/ST Committee

  1. Resolves the Grievances of SC/ST students and employees of the institute and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.
  2. Looks after the work related to SC/STs matters and no other work is assigned to the Cell.
  3. Ensures the effective implementation of the guidelines/ policies and program of the Government of India, UGC and State Governments with regard to backward castes, classes and physically challenged.
  4. Collects data regarding the implementation of the policies in respect of admissions, appointments to teaching and non- teaching positions in the institute and informs the same to the deserve people.
  5. Gives wide publicity through circulars to all the faculties and informs the students about the various scholarships.
  6. Collects reports and information from the Government of India and the UGC orders on various aspects of education, training and employment of OBC.
  7. Circulates Government of India orders and UGC's decisions and to collect information in respect of appointing.
  8. Functions as a Grievances Redressal cell for the Grievances of OBC students including minority students and employees.
